The trip was definitely a journey for us. We left El Porvenir Thursday afternoon right after work, and bused it straight to San Pedro Sula, which took about 4 hours. Once in San Pedro Sula, we had to overnight it at the Tamarindo, a trendy hostel in town which hosts many backpackers. We ate a late dinner and then managed to make it back to the bus station the next morning to catch an 8am bus to Copan. The trip was very bumpy and curvy, as we were headed up and down all these mountainous roads. Side Note: I never mentioned this previously, but the buses in Honduras are old, yellow school buses from the US. So typically, the ride is bumpy, but the ride to Copan was bumpy times 10! Back to the story, we arrive to Copan four hours later, and make it to our hostel, Iguana Azul. Operated by a Honduran-American couple, Iguana Azul is the cutest little spot set up at the top of a hill with a beautiful mountain view. The best thing about this place was that they had HOT WATER!!! Man, we were in those showers like we hadn’t showered in weeks. I washed my hair, shaved, everything… very nice.

Once we were settled in our room, Natalie and Heide went off horseback riding, and like a true NY snob, I hit up the local happy hour and got a massage at the neighboring bed and breakfast. Boy was it amazing!!! We then went to dinner at Via Via, a cool, Belgian run restaurant, and had dinner and a couple more drinks! Love Copan!
